My name is Michelle and I am an Ofsted Registered Montessori Childminder. I have 9 years experience of working as an early years practitioner, including working in a Montessori nursery setting as well as working as a home-based early years educator. I previously worked as a registered general nurse. I hold an NCFE CACHE Level 4 Diploma in Montessori Pedagogy, Birth to Seven (Early Years Educator) trained by Montessori Centre International (MCI). I have Hygge in the Early Years Accreditation.
I offer an inclusive, caring and safe environment for children to explore and learn as according to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). I follow the Montessori curriculum and like to blend the Montessori and Hygge approach to create an early years environment that supports freedom of movement, creativity, a love of nature, mindfulness and curious minds.
I love books, nature and being outdoors and I follow sustainable practice where I engage children in environmentally friendly activities and learning. I believe that it is important to teach children about our planet and sustainability from an early age. We learn about nature and spend time outdoors exploring the wild garden, growing vegetables and going for walks to the local parks, reservoirs and woodlands. We also learn about our local community and the diversity of the world in which we live, this includes walks in our local neighbourhood, visits to the local museums, library and art gallery and supporting local charities.
